First
things first,
Water.
At Sambani Lodge, the mains water
is treated. However, if you prefer
the taste of bottled water, it
is available for purchase from
the bar, or the nearby town.
The well-stocked
Sambani lodge bar commands a beautiful
view of the lake, and serves beer,
wine (occasionally), spirits,
and soft drinks. Sit at the bar
or adjoining lounge at dusk, and
enjoy the refreshing onshore breeze.
For those who are missing it,
the lounge is equipped with a
satellite television.
Sambani Lodge has
its own restaurant, and all food
is prepared and cooked by skilled
Malawian chefs. The restaurant
offers a full range of breakfast,
lunch and dinner menus, with fruit
and vegetables which vary with
the seasons. There are other restaurants
- although these are few and far
between, they are within reach
if you fancy a change.
We
definitely recommend that you
try some of the locally caught
fresh water fish or Chambo
(a species of Tilapia - comparable
to Trout). In fact, why not spend
a morning or afternoon fishing,
and then take your catch to our
chefs who will expertly prepare
your fish using traditional Malawian
receipes. A fishing trip can be
arranged if you ask the staff.
You
can also purchase food supplies
and essentials in Chintetche village
(which is two kilometres away),
and there is always a wide array
of seasonal fruit and vegetable
on offer in Chintcheche's colourful
market.
